Production
The production facilities are located in Holland, Germany, Denmark and Venezuela. The equipment is strategically placed at egg processing facilities in order to guarantee continuous access to fresh, traceable raw material (albumin) and to enhance logistics and cost savings.
The production process follows GMP guidelines. The plant located in Nuspeet, Holland has recently received its GMP certification from the Dutch authorities for production of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The original production method of Lysozyme was originally developed by Prof. Rodolfo Ferrari and his team of researchers at SPA-Societą Prodotti Antibiotici (Milan, Italy) in the late fifties. Several international patents were granted between 1966 and 1967.
Essentially the technology was based on the absorption of high quality hen egg white on resins followed by an elution with a specific solution, which allows the extraction process to take place without the use of solvents and toxic substances.
Moreover, Lysozyme is extracted without destroying its original source, the egg white, which at the end of the process is returned to the egg-processors for further use.
In 1987 Fordras licensed SPA’s know-how. Over the years, through its commitment to innovation and production excellence, Fordras was able to perfect SPA’s original technology by improving the existing extraction method.
Such improvement was a complete breakthrough in the production of Lysozyme, allowing for substantial advantages such as:

C Egg white with unmodified nutritional and functional properties
Most importantly, Fordras’ extraction method is the ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD to be certified by the Texcell-Pasteur Institute, Paris (France) as being a virucide against the AVIAN FLU.
The same quality and efficiency of our extraction process is applied to the production of Avidin, Ovotransferrin and Ovalbumin.
